Pawn Home is classic Ludo on a glossy 3D board: roll the die, bring your pawns out on a six, race them around the cross and up your home column, and send rivals back to their yard when you land on them. If you have played Ludo King, Ludo Club or the new Ludo Go!, you already know every rule.

Ludo is one of the most played board games in the world. It grew out of the Indian race game Pachisi, crossed to Europe as Ludo in England, Parcheesi in America, Parchís in Spain and Mensch ärgere dich nicht in Germany, and lives on in phone hits such as Ludo King, Ludo Club, Ludo Star and Easybrain's Ludo Go!, which climbed into the top charts of almost forty countries in its first days. Pawn Home plays the same game free in your browser, with nothing to install and no account.

The rules are the ones most players grew up with. Each colour starts with its pawns in a yard and needs a six to bring one out onto its start cell. A six also gives another roll, but a third six in a row ends the turn. Pawns run clockwise around the shared 52-cell track, then turn up their own coloured home column; the last steps into the centre need the exact count. Land on a lone rival pawn and it goes back to its yard — and you roll again. The start cells and the stars are safe, and two pawns of one colour on a cell guard each other.

Levels pit you against the computer. The first games are short — two pawns each against one rival — and the ladder grows to three and four pawns and then to three rivals around the board, while the computer learns to chase, to hide on safe cells and to keep its pawns out of reach. Win a level to unlock the next one; stars show how far ahead you finished. A bulb shows the strongest pawn to move when you are not sure, three times a game, and a short video can start your next game with a pawn already out.

Want to play with friends or family? Pass the phone or tablet around: two players or four, all on one device, with the board, the die and the pawns in the classic red, green, yellow and blue. Every roll tumbles onto the tray of the player whose turn it is, pawns hop cell by cell, and a knocked pawn flies all the way back to its yard. Pawn Home runs on desktop, phone and tablet; your level and stars are saved in the browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pawn Home free to play?

Yes. Pawn Home is free on crokocat with no download and no sign-up — it runs in your browser on desktop, phone and tablet.

Is Pawn Home the same as Ludo King?

It plays the same classic Ludo rules as Ludo King, Ludo Club and Ludo Go!: a six to come out, an extra roll on a six, captures send pawns home, safe stars, exact count to finish. Pawn Home is a separate game by crokocat.

Do I need a six to bring a pawn out?

Yes. Only a six brings a pawn from the yard onto its start cell, and the six gives you another roll.

What happens on three sixes in a row?

The third six ends your turn without a move, as in Ludo King.

Which cells are safe?

The four start cells and the four stars. A pawn there can't be knocked back, and neither can two pawns of one colour sharing a cell.

Can I play with friends?

Yes — 2 players or 4 players on one device, passing it around. Levels are for one player against the computer.

Is Ludo the same as Parcheesi?

They are cousins: both come from the Indian game Pachisi. Ludo uses one die and is the version most people play on phones today.
