Sky Rails is a one-button train game: a toy steam engine and two coaches on a wooden rail bridge high above a sea of clouds. Hold to drive, let go to brake — keep under the limit on every curve, fly over the broken spans and stop right at the station. If you have played Rail in the Air, you know the feeling: one button, and every metre of track asks a question about speed.
Rail in the Air turned a simple idea into one of the most-played train games on Poki: a train on rails in the sky, one button for speed, and a long drop for anyone who gets greedy on a curve. Sky Rails plays that idea free in the browser, with nothing to install, and builds a full level ladder on it — every line is longer, twistier and hillier than the last.
Driving is all about reading the track ahead. Every curve has a top speed, painted on a round sign before it; take it faster and the train flies off the rails and tumbles into the clouds. Hills slow the train on the way up and speed it up on the way down, so the classic trap is a downhill straight into a tight bend. Broken spans ask the opposite: a yellow sign shows the speed you need, and you have to build it up before the gap or fall through.
The line ends at a station with a buffer stop. Stop on the platform and the level is done — the quicker you get there, the more stars you earn; hit the buffers and it is a crash. A driving bot runs every level before you see it, which proves it can be done and sets the time for three stars.
