2048 has one move — slide everything up, down, left or right — and that single move carries the entire game. Every tile on the board travels as far as it can, and when two tiles with the same number collide they merge into one worth their sum. Two 2s make a 4, two 4s make an 8, and somewhere far down that road sits the tile the game is named after.

The catch is that every slide also spawns a new tile in a random empty cell. Space is the real currency of 2048: the board only has sixteen cells, and careless swiping fills them faster than you would believe. The players who reach 2048 are not the ones who merge the most — they are the ones who keep their big tiles parked in a corner and never break formation without a reason.

This version is a faithful take on the 2014 original: the same 90/10 spawn odds, the same one-merge-per-move rule, the same win-and-keep-going option when you finally build the 2048 tile. It adds only what a modern browser build should — smooth animations, swipe controls on phones, and a best score that survives between visits.
