Sand Roll is a dig-and-roll physics puzzle. A big hungry ball waits at the top of a box of rainbow sand, and little round critters hide in pockets further down. Drag your finger through the sand to carve tunnels: whatever is free rolls down them, and the hungry ball gobbles up every critter it touches. Feed it them all to clear the level. If you like Hungry Balls or Sand Balls, you know the feeling.

Digging games are some of the most satisfying puzzles on phones: in Hungry Balls and Sand Balls you carve through sand with one finger and watch everything roll along the path you made. Hungry Balls has passed five million installs and keeps spreading to new countries. Sand Roll brings that feeling to the browser as a quick level game with no download and no waiting.

Each level is a box of striped sand. The hungry ball sits in a pocket at the top with its mouth ready, and the critters sit in little pockets in the sand below. Drag through the sand to dig it away. Gravity does the rest: anything on a slope steep enough rolls, anything on a flat ledge stops. Dig a tunnel from the hungry ball down past the critters and they all tumble down together, and the hungry ball eats every one it bumps into. The counter at the top shows how many are left.

It gets trickier as you go. Grey rocks can't be dug, so you have to steer around them. Red spikes pop anyone who touches them, the hungry ball or a critter, and that ends the level, so leave them a thick wall of sand. Later levels hide critters off to the side in their own pockets: dig a little side tunnel to roll them back to the main one. A tunnel that is too flat stops the ball, and a careless swipe can open a way into the spikes. Plan the slope, keep it steep and wide enough, and keep the hungry one fed.

Stars reward tidy digging: clear the level without moving much more sand than you need for three. Stuck? The bulb shows the tunnel to dig with a moving hand and dots on the sand, and a short video tops up hints. Popped on the spikes? A video can save the ball once per level, or restart the level any time with the button under the board. Sand Roll runs on desktop, phone and tablet, saves your level, stars and hints in the browser, and the leaderboard ranks the players who climbed the highest.
