Ring Twist is a rotate rings puzzle: bright open rings are linked by clamps, each clamp gripping the band of the ring next to it. Turn a ring until its gap slides over a clamp and that clamp lets go — and any ring that nothing holds any more lifts off the board and flies away. If you have played Rotate Rings, Rotate the Rings or Untie the Rings, you know the rule at a glance: twist, align, unlock.

Every ring on the board has a gap cut into its band, and most of them carry a clamp — a short stem with a block on the end that wraps around the band of a neighbour. A clamp grips for as long as the neighbour's band runs through it. Turn that neighbour until its gap reaches the clamp and the clamp suddenly holds nothing. That is the whole mechanic of the rotate rings genre, the same one behind Rotate Rings by Nebula Studio, Rotate the Rings, Untie the Rings and Logic Tangle Rings — and Ring Twist plays it free in the browser, with nothing to install.

The catch is that a ring cannot turn while its own clamp grips another ring: the clamp is rigid, so the ring is locked in place until the ring it holds is gone. Every board is therefore a small chain of dependencies. The rings at the ends of a chain spin freely, the ones in the middle wait, and the closed rings — solid circles with no gap at all — never free anything by turning; they leave only when everything their clamps grip has gone. Reading which ring is really free is the puzzle.

Turning is physical. As a gap sweeps round, it passes every clamp on its way, and each clamp it passes lets go for a moment — so one long, well-aimed turn can release two or three rings at once and set off a chain of rings flying off the board. Rings leave with a lift, a spin and a halo, and on a wide screen they sail out past the play area. Stars are counted in turns: the fewer gestures you need, the better.

Ring Twist has 200 levels, every one of them generated for this game and proven by a solver before it ships — a way through always exists, and nothing you do can trap you, because every turn can be turned back. Boards grow from two rings to twenty-one, laid out on hexagonal clusters and square grids, with closed rings from level 6 and short breather levels between the long ones.

Everything runs in your browser on desktop, phone or tablet — no download, no sign-up. Restart is free, the bulb shows a good next turn as a drag across the ring — you start with a few hints and a short video brings more — and your level is saved in the browser so you can close the tab and pick up where you left off.

Tips for Ring Twist

Who made Ring Twist?

Ring Twist was built by crokocat game studio in 2026 — a browser take on the rotate rings puzzle made popular by Rotate Rings and Rotate the Rings, with glossy 3D rings, sweeping turns that free several rings at once and 200 solver-checked levels.

About this game

Controls
Drag a ring around its centre to turn it — the gap follows your finger or the mouse. A quick tap turns the ring to the next clamp on its band. A ring whose own clamp still grips a neighbour cannot turn: it wiggles and that clamp glows red. Undo, restart and the bulb hint sit under the board.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ring Twist free to play?

Yes. Ring Twist is free on crokocat with no download and no sign-up — it runs in your browser on desktop, phone and tablet.

Is Ring Twist like Rotate Rings or Rotate the Rings?

It plays on the same rule: turn the rings so their gaps line up with the clamps and the rings come apart. Ring Twist runs free in the browser, its 200 boards are generated for it and checked by a solver, and one long turn can sweep a gap over several clamps and free several rings at once.

How do I turn a ring?

Drag it around its centre, or tap it to turn it to the next clamp on its band.

Why won't a ring turn?

Its own clamp still grips another ring. The clamp glows red — free the ring it grips first, and this one turns.

When does a ring fly away?

When none of its clamps grips anything and no clamp grips its band. Several rings can leave in a chain.

Can I get stuck?

No. Every level is solvable and restart is free any time, and the bulb shows a good next turn.

How are stars counted?

By turns: clearing the board in the solver's number of turns earns three stars, a few more earns two.
