Long Paws is a long cat puzzle: a ginger cat in a garden of hedges, whose body stretches as far as it runs. Swipe to send its head in a straight line — it won't stop until something blocks it — and fill every patch of grass with cat. If you have played Longcat, you know the feeling of the last swipe that fills the board.

The long cat puzzle is one of the simplest ideas in puzzle games: the cat never stops halfway. Longcat made it a cult classic — it sits among the most played games on Poki — and Long Paws plays it free in the browser with nothing to install. Every swipe sends the head running until a hedge, the edge or its own body is in the way, and the body fills every cell it passed. The goal is to leave no grass uncovered.

The difficulty is that a run can't be shortened. Go the wrong way and the cat sails past the corner you needed, cutting the garden in two — and once a pocket of grass is sealed off by the cat's own body, there is no way back into it. Each level has a route that covers everything, and plenty of tempting first moves that lead into a dead end; reading the garden before the first swipe is half the game.

Long Paws has 200 levels. Every one is built backwards from a working route — the hedges are placed where the cat has to stop — and then measured by a search that counts the dead ends, so the later gardens hide more wrong turns. Boards grow from a tiny 3 × 4 patch to a 7 × 9 garden.

There is no undo: if the cat is boxed in and grass is left, it is stuck and the level starts over, so every swipe counts. Restart is there any time, and the bulb shows the next swipe of a working route from where you are (you start with three hints, and a short video brings more) — or tells you there is no way out and it is time to restart. Filling the garden on the first try earns three stars. The game runs on desktop, phone and tablet with no sign-up, and your level is saved in the browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is Long Paws free to play?

Yes. Long Paws is free on crokocat with no download and no sign-up — it runs in your browser on desktop, phone and tablet.

Is Long Paws like Longcat?

Yes, it is the same kind of puzzle: the cat runs until something stops it and its body fills the way. Long Paws has 200 levels built for it, with restart and hints — and no undo, so every swipe counts.

How do I move the cat?

Swipe anywhere on the board, or use the arrow keys or WASD.

Why won't the cat stop where I want?

That is the whole idea: it always runs until a hedge, the edge or its own body is in the way.

What if I get stuck?

Then the level is lost and starts over — there is no undo. Before that, the bulb shows the next good swipe, or tells you to restart when there is no way out.

Is every level solvable?

Yes. Every level is built backwards from a route that fills it.

How are stars counted?

Three stars for filling the garden on the first try, two for the second or third try, one after that. A restart or getting stuck counts as a new try.
