21 Match

21 Match is a card board you clear by arithmetic. Every group you take has to be connected and has to add up to exactly 21 — face cards count 10, aces count 11 — and every group you take, or bust, costs one of your moves. New cards drop in from the top, so the board you finish a level on is never the board you started with.

21 Match takes the one number everybody already knows from blackjack and turns it into a board puzzle. There is no dealer, no betting and no luck of the draw to blame — the whole board is in front of you, and the only question is which connected handful of it adds to exactly twenty-one.

The tension comes from the move counter. Clearing a group costs a move and so does busting, so a careless tap is worth exactly as much as a good one, and a level with four moves left is a level where you count twice. Cards keep falling in from the top, which means a board is never solved in advance — the group you were saving may not survive the group you just took.

Levels widen from a four-card square to a full board, moves get tighter, and around level ten the goal stops being ‘make five 21s’ and starts asking for hearts, or spades, or three suits at once. Lives are shared across the campaign and refill on their own, so a bad run costs time rather than progress.

Frequently asked questions

Is 21 Match free to play?

Yes. It runs in your browser on crokocat with no download and no sign-up, on desktop or phone.

Is this blackjack?

No. It borrows the number 21 and the card values — face cards are 10, aces are 11 — and nothing else. There is no dealer, no betting and no hidden cards: it is a puzzle where the whole board is visible and you choose which group to take.

What does connected mean?

Every card in a group has to touch the rest of the selection, either side by side or across the empty gaps left by cards you already cleared. Diagonals do not count, but a hole in the board does not break the chain.

What happens if I go over 21?

The group busts: the selection clears and the move is spent. It costs exactly what a successful group costs, which is what makes the last few moves of a level worth slowing down for.

What are the hearts for?

They are lives, five of them, shared across Adventure. Failing a level costs one, and they refill on their own over time. You can also get one straight away by watching an ad or by sending a friend your link — when they start playing, you get the heart.

Why do I have to wait after a level?

From level sixteen on, clearing a new level starts a short timer before the next one opens — three minutes at first, ten later on. Levels you have already cleared stay open. You get one free skip to spend whenever you like, and a friend arriving through your link lifts the wall immediately.

Does my progress carry between devices?
