Neon Siege is an endless neon space shooter. Alien formations swoop in, lock into a swaying grid and peel off to dive at your ship — the way Space Invaders and Galaga did it — only here the whole arena is a glowing vector grid that ripples with every explosion. Your ship fires on its own: you dodge, line up the shots and pick an upgrade after every sector. Every fifth sector a boss comes in, and the sectors never run out.

Space Invaders put a marching alien formation on screens in 1978, Galaga taught those aliens to swoop and dive, and Geometry Wars turned the whole idea into pure neon light. Neon Siege folds the three into one browser shooter: formations fly in along looping paths, settle into a grid that sways and slowly creeps down, and send divers at you one or two at a time. Phone players will recognise the rhythm of Galaxy Attack: Alien Shooter and the other alien-shooter hits — short sectors, a steady drip of upgrades, a boss to break. It is free, it runs in the browser, and there is nothing to install.

The game is built around motion. Every explosion pushes the spring grid under the fight, sends a shockwave through the screen and shatters the enemy into its own glowing lines; big kills freeze the action for a heartbeat, a hit on your ship slows time and splits the colours. Enemies pulse to the synthwave soundtrack, which grows from a quiet pad on the title screen to a full four-on-the-floor beat when a boss arrives.

Each sector is a handful of waves — a formation, a snake of darts sweeping across, a ring of orbs, heavy hexagons that split into minis when they pop. Later sectors bring spinners that fire fans, bombers that drop mines, and snipers that paint a red aim line before they shoot. Clear the sector and choose one of three cards: Rapid, Spread, Power, Pierce, Missiles, Orbitals, Arc lightning, Crit, Wingmen, Beam, Hull, Nova, Magnet, Stasis or Ricochet, each with several levels. Every fifth sector ends with a three-phase boss that sheds its armour as it breaks — spirals, fans, ring bursts and sweeping lasers.

Enemies drop shards. Between runs, spend them in the hangar on lasting upgrades: cannon damage, fire rate, an extra hull cell, a stronger magnet, more shards per kill, and a head start of free upgrades. When you go down, a short video can revive you once per run; after a run a video doubles the shards you collected, and after a sector a video lets you take a second upgrade card. Neon Siege plays on desktop, phone and tablet, saves your best sector, best score, shards and hangar in the browser, and picks up where you left off.

Frequently asked questions

Is Neon Siege free to play?

Yes. Neon Siege is free on crokocat with no download and no sign-up — it runs in your browser on desktop, phone and tablet.

Is Neon Siege like Space Invaders?

It grew out of the same idea: an alien formation that sways, creeps down and shoots back. Neon Siege adds Galaga-style swooping dives, neon effects, upgrades and bosses. It is a separate game by crokocat.

How do I shoot?

You don't have to — the ship fires on its own. You fly, dodge and choose upgrades.

Does it ever end?

No. Sectors keep coming, each a little harder than the last, with a boss every fifth sector. The game keeps your best sector and best score.

What are shards for?

Shards are dropped by enemies. Spend them in the hangar on lasting upgrades — damage, fire rate, an extra hull cell, magnet range, shard value and a head start.

What happens when my ship is destroyed?

The run ends and you keep the shards you collected. A short video can revive you once per run with full hull.

Can I play with one hand on a phone?

Yes — drag anywhere to fly; firing is automatic, and the upgrade cards are one tap.
